Making Flan

Well the veggies are growing and the Chickens are popping out eggs everyday; and my wife has decided that no egg will go to waste and last night she told me she would make flan. I personally never heard of it before, but there is nothing I wont I try. To my surprise the flan was delicious. The caramel sauce was a bit strong but the custard neutralized it and it was really refreshing and light. Best of all I the main ingredient eggs came from my backyard.
Ingredients: Egg, milk sugar, and vanilla extract

Dude... The food you and your wife eat is AMAZING!

Not only does it look so... so... I think I just choked on spit because my mouth was watering so much. It's beautiful, your food! And the best part? You guys grew it yourself!

That is, even more than the aesthetic appeal of the food, the most awesome part!

Thanks shelly

Kenneth- Thanks for the compliment. My wife and I love to eat good food. The unfortunate thing for us down south in the town we live in, there are no places to eat that we consider great places. If we have to go some where we go to atlanta. We have come to the harsh realization that if we want really good food we are going to have to cook it ourselves. When we lived in the DC area There were so manyyyyy choices and the same with NewYork. BUt living down here has forced us to bring and create what we love so much to our garden, kitchen and ultimately the plate.

Ok, who else votes that ATW's wife needs a blog so she can share all the recipes?! I do!! That looks wonderful and I've never had flan either. I do have about 5 dozen eggs though. :)

I'm voting with Melissa here! Your wife needs to guest post her recipes here.

Like Kenneth said, I'm almost choking my mouth is watering so! Flan is a firm favorite of mine and so make a really superior flan you need the freshest of eggs. You certainly have that!

Thanks for the comments!! My wife is so shy and modest and doesn't think that what she does is all that great, but I beg to differ. I know she is keeping her secret squirrel box somewhere around here because out from nowhere in the middle of the night she heads to the kitchen with some squirrely idea to make "YET AGAIN" something fabulous. Homesteading for us not only means to grow and preserve our own, but to also create good food. She is enjoying the fresh output of produce that is coming from the yard. Thanks again guys, she will appreciate the comments.

Oh, that looks so wonderful.
I gained 5 pounds just looking at it.
Its always easier to go out to eat, but when you make it yourself, it has to be so much more satisfying.
Now, go kiss your wife and tell her how wonderful she is!
